Several key industry reports were issued this week plus many new acquisitions/agreements/contracts announced, but it was a relatively slow week for new product introductions (probably due to the Mon. holiday in the US).
During World War II, RF and microwave systems proved to be of major importance for both communication and radar. Consequently, intensive research was conducted in this field, resulting in major breakthroughs
The week provides the opportunity to attend these four conferences, and various workshops and short courses given by leading experts in their field. Moreover, the European Microwave Exhibition constitutes the largest trade show on RF and microwaves in Europe.
Aeroflex/Weinschel Inc.:Model 8314-X WLAN System Simulator This specialized subsystem is used to simulate the connectivity between a mobile unit running along a line of 3 base stations spaced from 250 to 1000 meters apart. The test subsystem is able to simulate the variation of the RF signal from the base stations reaching the mobile (as well as the signal from the mobile reaching the base stations) when the mobile is moving at speeds of up to 250 km/h.
AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation:Model CI00401 RF Conducted Immunity system The Model CI00401 RF Conducted Immunity system (100 watts nominal / 10 kHz – 400 MHz) is a complete, self-contained system for automotive testing. The system contains a signal generator, 3-channel power meter, 100-watts nominal AR amplifier (10 kHz – 400 MHz), directional coupler, and control software.
European Antennas Limited:WiFi Antennas Three WiFi Antennas (left to right), dual band (2.4-2.5 & 5.15-5.725 GHz) and dual slant polarisation DLPA6-2.5-5.5DS/1314, wireless LAN directional antenna, with flying leads. DSO3-24-54/1177, wireless LAN omni antenna. DLPA7-2.5-5.5DS/1315, wireless LAN low profile directional antenna that can be flush mounted.
RelComm Technologies Inc.:RRS SERIES RF COAXIAL RELAY This newly configured inline 5 port 2P2T coaxial offers the flexibility of independently operating each of the two sets of switching contacts. The center RF connector port is common to the adjacent output connectors and allows signal path for backup or redundancy mode configuration.
Response Microwave Inc.:SOLDERLESS COAX CONNECTOR SYSTEM SPEEDS BUILD TIME Part of the COMPEL series of connectivity products, this innovative design facilitates cable termination assembly and also accommodates tight packaging density. These new connectors are available in male and female right angle interface combinations. Frequency coverage is from DC-2 GHz in 75 ohm impedance value and DC-10 GHz in 50 ohm impedance.
Rohde & Schwarz:FSV Signal Analyzer The new R&S FSV from Rohde & Schwarz makes its market debut as the fastest and most accurate mid-range signal analyzer available today. Virtually all of its performance characteristics exceed those offered by other instruments in its class. In addition, the R&S FSV is alone in offering an analysis bandwidth of 40 MHz. This means it covers a wide range of wireless standards — from 3GPP LTE up to WLAN 802.11n.
Mark Hebeisen - Vice President, Marketing & Business Development, Endwave Corporation
Mark talks with Microwave Journal and shares his understanding of the commercial, military and homeland security markets and the technology driving the performance of today’s RF modules and high-frequency sub-systems.
Michael Vohrer - President and CEO, Rohde & Schwarz
As Rohde & Schwarz celebrates its 75th Anniversary, Microwave Journal’s European Editor, Richard Mumford, asks , Vohrer to trace how the company evolved from a two-man operation to a world leader with a global presence.
Rob Lefebvre
While user interfaces in microwave CAE software have remained relatively stable, important strides have been made in simulation technology. Today, more designs incorporate integrated chip, package, module and board systems which are more difficult to design, analyze, debug and deliver in high-volume than the typical design of 10 years ago.
